Old perl projects PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 03 October 2007

I am moving over info from my old personal site to this site, which includes projects that I had begun and worked on in the past but have fallen into the category of "haven't touched it in years".

However, I still wanted to preserve them (for what reason I don't know).  So here is a list of old projects that I have done with perl.

Works in Progress (aka. dead projects)

Web Page Wizard
This is a project to create some open source tools similar to GeoCities and HomeStead. I have developed most of this for Kindacool.com, but will release the source code.  This particular tool is a very basic CMS tool for building web pages based on some templates.  It features dynamic content and linking of pages together.  It also includes a management interface in building and managing the templates used.  See more at webpagewiz.sourceforge.net

Download it from: http://sourceforge.net/projects/webpagewiz/

DB Edit
This is a very versitile database management application. It is web based, and utilizes the powerful perl DBI module so it can work with just about any database out there. It supports upload & download of database tables. I am working on making it more secure and adding multi-user functionality.

Released version: 0.95

This is listed as a part of the Web Page Wizard suite of tools and can be downloaded from the same place on Sourceforge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/webpagewiz/

FileAccess
This is a web base file manager. It allows a user to control and access several account functions as well. File editing and auto-backup functions as well. It is in two parts: a set of cgi scripts, and a personal daemon server.

This is also part of the Web Page Wizard suite of tools, but I never got around to releasing it.  I do have a working version of this somewhere on my brother's server.  Perhaps I will try to at least tarball it and put it on Sourceforge anyway just to preserver it.

Other Works

PerlWebServer
This project was started by me back in August of 2000.  It all started when I wanted to do web development from my computer at home.  But my set-up at home was not any where as good as at my work, so I had to deal with limitations. I decided that other webservers (especially for Windows) were too big and too complicated to get going and execute CGI scripts. So why not write a web server myself, right!?!
Current dev version: 0.4
Current release version: 0.3
